Inventive solutions in the Rózsadomb

We received an assignment for a project, prepared to a high level, both in terms of architecture and technical specifications.

The unusual headroom of the space, the narrow plot and the narrow staging road section posed numerous resolvable tasks for our company. Nevertheless, when we saw the building for the first time, we did not even envisage the series of professional challenges we had to face from the start of the implementation process until its completion. During our work, our objective was to make our client totally satisfied rather than finding a simpler way of implementation, which could be achieved only with our company’s professional humility.

In addition to the closing system solutions for the property’s non-traditional headroom spaces, anomalies with the glass lifting came to the forefront, which meant a lot of challenges for KAV Hungária.

In terms of organisation, it is important to mention that the construction took place in an arrow-shaped lot, where the entire logistics of the implementation had to be resolved through an uneven, narrow road. The rethought facade was designed in the most sensitive manner possible, by taking all options into account and accepting only minimal compromise.

The installation-fitting period started in winter weather, which causes all contractors to lose momentum. To be specific, the precisely prepared organisation plan for craning and installation fails if the appropriate construction environment has not been established. The narrow staging road section, the narrow plot, the absence of any possibility to go around the building and the depositing of construction debris, as well as the unsuitable terrain for craning due to the extreme mud forced our colleagues to stop and involve additional resources. The team again passed the aptitude test, and we completed the set tasks with innovative solutions.

We thought that no more surprises could come, but we were wrong. In the weeks before the handover, the glass panels of a structure located in the most complicated place were damaged, for reasons not attributable to us. The replacement of the glasses meant a new challenge, since a several ton crane had to work in a tiny space without damaging the landscaping and the ornamental surface cover or the rails. The task was completed successfully, which again demonstrated KAV Hungária’s problem-solving ability.
