Wondering how an aluminium-framed window or door is manufactured? What happens in the machining centre? How are aluminium doors milled, reinforced, and machined in the production process? What is the size of glass surfaces that can be produced? And how to assemble a window? These questions are also answered in the show called The Craftsman (Mesterember) that presents the work of the aluminium door and window manufacturer. The recordings were made at the KAV Hungária Kisbér plant and at the site of one of our ongoing projects, the Svábhegy Reformed Church Kindergarten.

The manufacture and installation of aluminium doors and windows would not be possible without excellent professionals. The programme on the M5 television channel called The Craftsman, presents trades to help career choices, and gives an insight into the secrets of manufacturing aluminium doors and windows. At the KAV Kisbér plant, you can learn about the most important physical steps in the production of aluminium doors and windows, from the arrival and unloading of the shipment to storage, the profile cutting of aluminium casing and sash frames, machining processes, the assembly and case-elongation function of the aluminium window case, as well as the composite bonding of frameless sliding doors. The finished aluminium doors and windows will leave for the installation site after a minimum of 48 hours of “rest”. Of course, not all the details of the long shoot were included in the film, so KAV’s sales and customer support work, the technical preparation and survey methods of our engineers in Budapest, the production preparation and individual production organization by engineers in Kisbér were left out, as along with fitting hardware parts, rubber seals and door handles, and wrapping. Getting to know the details and atmosphere of the on-site door and window installation was also postponed to another occasion; there was only the opportunity for a quick look around the building. The program presents the already installed windows in one of KAV’s ongoing projects, the Svábhegy Reformed Church Kindergarten. Here, KAV’s specialists implemented, among other things, special, asymmetrically segmented (both in plan and view) interlocking curtain walls, which contain more than 700 custom angular breaks. The glass for this aluminium curtain wall system was not manufactured in Hungary but abroad, since the glass panels forming the average 5 metre-high glass panes of this curtain wall did not fit into any Hungarian curing oven.

The goal of KAV Hungária is to create trends: our specialists work on the production of special aluminium doors and windows which prove that, with the right expertise, there is a solution for every idea.

We pay attention to what the customer wants to create
The KAV team is constantly expanding; we are currently looking for employees for several positions. Henriette Hégli graduated as an economist and came to our company in July last year after a career as an executive and real estate salesperson. As project coordinator, she is responsible for preparing individual quotes. In order to be able to perform her task as optimally as possible, she took part in a freshman programme in the first few weeks of her start-up, in which she got to know in detail the individual work processes, the market for custom doors and windows and the KAV way of thinking.

We build for the future rather than for today
Clear shapes, large glass surfaces, spacious interior spaces and creative use of materials – these are the main features of the most predominant architectural style of our era, minimalistic design, in which interest is outstanding in Hungary. However, the number of really well designed and built minimalistic family homes is relatively low. The property our engineers consider as one of the best designed ones our company has met in recent years was built in Budapest. During the project we paid increased attention to the design of large, liberally designed glass surfaces, essential for creating open spaces. We had a conversation with the developer of the house about what was needed to create this property.

KAV also helps the work of architects
KAV also helps the work of architects
From now on, KAV assists the work of architects with a complimentary consulting service. This is because, closing systems are such special structural elements that their thorough knowledge and following the trends is nearly impossible for those not specialised in this field. Now architects may ask their questions of Norbert Kiss, who worked as a designer for a long time himself, and now he has been strengthening the KAV team for years.

The Basics of Doors and Windows – A Conversation with Architect György Hoffmann
Huge, transparent surfaces that create almost a direct connection with the surroundings. Architect György Hoffmann believes that in modern architecture, there is no longer a need for walls, as windows and pillars can also fulfill the structural functions. Our conversation also reveals what primarily influences the thinking of architect-designers and what it takes to establish a common language between the client and the designer.

Architectural design of aluminium doors and windows in our time
The aim of the KAV team is to provide our customers with all the solutions for their unique doors and windows needs, whether it may be a minimal window, a frameless sliding door, an aluminium front door, a blind or even a curtain wall. Most customers start looking for windows when they already have the finished designs, but we increasingly often see, during the consultations, that these designs are not detailed enough. We talked about the correlation between architectural designs and the door and window solutions with Csaba Mravik, KAV Hungária’s chief development engineer of.

The house that fascinates with its clean simplicity
Premium, minimalistic, clean simplicity – these are the adjectives that immediately come to our mind seeing the residential property dreamt on the basis of the Porsche design. The building was implemented after a design process, unusual from an architect’s point of view, since the developer arrived with very specific plans and designs. We talked about this extraordinary work with the architect, István Unicsovics.

Ethical operations raise even SMEs to the top
Following the large enterprise sector, operating ethically is becoming increasingly important for small and medium-sized enterprises, too. Rebirth of a Bauhaus villa
This year, the Bauhaus is 100 years old, and it is a great pleasure for us to take part in the renovation of a property displaying the marks of this school. When the Bauhaus appears as a description of a building, it is a guarantee of clean shapes, exciting spaces and quality materials. Even so, it is important to point out that although several Hungarian architects were in contact with the famous German school, there are hardly any Bauhaus buildings, in the strict sense, in Budapest. Péter Lenzsér, the architect, talked about how this building bears the hallmarks of style and how it is worth embarking on such a renovation.
