ALUTA NÍVÓDÍJ 2025 – Now a foreign project by KAV has received recognition
As part of the ALUTA Nívódíj 2025, the jury awarded two villa building projects designed, manufactured, and installed on-site in Australia by KAV.
The unique product development and unconventional implementation of the aluminum façade windows for the villas built in Newcastle, near Sydney, were recognized in the “small project” category.
All in all, the two buildings, located close to each other, differ in their layout and structure. Affter all a common expectation for both projects was the airy movement of large glass panels and the use of a concealed frame. The client specified the application of the Cortizo Corvision Plus frameless sliding system for both buildings. In one residential building, our team had to realize a corner-opening sliding door that is not available in the catalog. Slides into a single-track wall on one side, while the other side operates with a three-track system.
Our company was responsible:
- for the design,
- client consultations,
- manufacturing, and
- management of the on-site installation of both standard and special products.
The composite framework bonding of all locally manufactured glass panels prior to installation was also entrusted to our employees. At the ALUTA awards ceremony, Károly Lovász, the Managing Director of KAV, received the award from Sándor Fegyverneky, the president of the professional association.
The jury:
– Chairman: György Skardelli, a Kossuth and Ybl Miklós award-winning architect and recipient of the Építészeti Príma Primissima award.
– Members: Dr. habil György Stocker, DLA architect and associate professor at the Department of Bridges and Structures at the BME Faculty of Civil Engineering, the vice president of ALUTA, and Sándor Fegyverneky, architect, and president of ALUTA.
About the award:
Every year, ALUTA announces a public competition for the recognition of architectural creations that meet the professional expectations outlined. Accordingly in its objectives, showcasing modern, creative, technically advanced, environmentally conscious, certified structures in aluminum-glass façade construction. The evolution of closing systems in Hungary
If one spends many years in a specialised technical segment, sometimes answering questions from a professional interviewer will inadvertently recall the period from the beginning to the present. Studying the evolution of window and door products used in residential buildings is also instructive, because fashion always changes along with demand and financial opportunities. Everyone sees the past differently - we, Hungarians are special in this - but sales figures outweigh perceptions.

The evolution of blinds
Climate change and increasingly sophisticated customer demands have accelerated the evolution of shading systems, not just of windows and doors. Facade structures for full transparency
Curtain walls connect several large glass surfaces into a single structure, many times in an invisible manner. Initially these elements were exclusively used in communal building technology but, with the penetration of the minimalistic style, it also appeared in the family home segment. Today it is the most dynamically developing branch of the closing structure market, in that these surfaces are suitable for individual solutions where only the imagination of the client and the designers can set the boundaries.

KAV also helps the work of architects
From now on, KAV assists the work of architects with a complimentary consulting service. This is because, closing systems are such special structural elements that their thorough knowledge and following the trends is nearly impossible for those not specialised in this field. Now architects may ask their questions of Norbert Kiss, who worked as a designer for a long time himself, and now he has been strengthening the KAV team for years.

Development by KAV of customised shades
The hot and dry summers experienced over the last few years due to climate change have made suitable shading solutions ever more important. Windows in the service of maximising the view
Frameless windows are favourite elements in houses built in modern and minimalistic styles, since, thanks to the nearly invisible frames, the external and internal spaces almost connect; in this way, nothing disturbs the view, and also natural light may flow into residential spaces through a greater surface.

For a smart home, product selection is key
For a newly built property, in terms of windows and doors, one of the most important questions is whether prospective residents would like a building management system in the house, as all solutions need to be tailored to this in the design phase. For today's systems, system-specific connector units and auxiliary modules must already be planned and positioned so that they can remain completely hidden.
