Special KAV doors and windows in Költő Kert
2023 / 03 / 21
MTVA’s innovation magazine program, Novum, made a report on the special glass elements and door and window solutions of the 5,000 square meter Költő Kert villa park, a building complex that is also considered special in Europe. Environmental awareness, innovation, organic architectural elements with transparent huge glass surfaces, and a way of thinking in which visual culture also plays a prominent role. One of the biggest challenges in the Költő Kert villa park was the special solutions that the KAV staff had to create at the junction of the raw concrete surface and the glass membrane. Károly Lovász highlighted in the report that KAV’s engineers and employees had to solve many challenges during the planning and execution, whether it was thermal technology, sun protection, mechanical engineering, glass railing connections or waterproofing. The result is a simultaneously organic and high-tech building, which is considered exceptional in Hungary not only in its appearance, but also in its innovations.

We build for the future rather than for today
Clear shapes, large glass surfaces, spacious interior spaces and creative use of materials – these are the main features of the most predominant architectural style of our era, minimalistic design, in which interest is outstanding in Hungary. However, the number of really well designed and built minimalistic family homes is relatively low. The property our engineers consider as one of the best designed ones our company has met in recent years was built in Budapest. During the project we paid increased attention to the design of large, liberally designed glass surfaces, essential for creating open spaces. We had a conversation with the developer of the house about what was needed to create this property.

Ethical operations raise even SMEs to the top
Following the large enterprise sector, operating ethically is becoming increasingly important for small and medium-sized enterprises, too. These companies not only take into account the interests of their clients and suppliers but also those of their environment and employees. They set an example by their activity and attitude and strengthen trust. This attitude may constitute a basis for long-term operation and economic stability, and what is more, employees of the Y and Z generations are more eager to opt for an ethically operating workplace.

This is how we can extend the life of aluminium doors and windows
Long service life, high quality, exceptional durability and a modern look. Usually, these considerations also play a role in someone’s choice of aluminium doors and windows for their family home. Although distributors often advertise that aluminium front doors and windows are maintenance-free, there are a few things that we can do, not only to increase their service life but also preserve their appearance.

The relationship between aluminium doors and windows and the façade
In parallel with the advent of the latest aluminium door and window solutions, including filigree case systems and large glass surfaces, façades have also been transformed in the family home market. In addition to functionality, design also plays a key role in more and more buildings. However, architects rarely involve professionals in the process of designing doors, windows and façades. According to Krisztián Vatai, executive director of Facade Design & Building, who is engaged in the design, construction and production of façades, a change of attitude and education is needed to change this.

We talked about this special job with Mihály Fodor, the Managing Director of the implementing company, and András Havasy, the project’s Technical Director.

Windows in the service of maximising the view
Frameless windows are favourite elements in houses built in modern and minimalistic styles, since, thanks to the nearly invisible frames, the external and internal spaces almost connect; in this way, nothing disturbs the view, and also natural light may flow into residential spaces through a greater surface.

Reflecting the environment with closing systems
The KAV approach helped a lot in its implementation. They talk to the customer and they don't want to sell a product, they want to answer questions and look for a solution.
I did not have to choose from a catalogue, so I was not forced to choose from a set of solutions, but was offered individual solutions to a given problem. Of the companies I worked with, KAV gave me the most technical support.

Those about whom who nobody ever talks, or the eminences of manufacturing preparation
KAV's customers come into contact with several of our colleagues in the bidding, preparation and construction processes in the course of a job. These are our sales and estimation colleagues, our technical and manufacturing preparation engineers, our project engineers, and then our installation specialists. It is very rare that the end-user comes into contact with the manufacturing preparation engineers. In this article, we’d like to describe the work of these professionals in connection with the Continental Golf Club construction project.
