Recognising customer needs regarding high-quality aluminium door and window systems and finding solutions for them is one of the main trademarks of KAV Hungária. András Szabados, our company’s project coordinator, often thinks together with the architect and the client for months to create custom door and window solutions that meet the wishes of the clients, in terms of both their functionality and appearance.

MTVA's innovation magazine program, Novum, made a report on the special glass elements and door and window solutions of the 5,000 square meter Költő Kert villa park, a building complex that is also considered special in Europe. Environmental awareness, innovation, organic architectural elements with transparent huge glass surfaces, and a way of thinking in which visual culture also plays a prominent role. One of the biggest challenges in the Költő Kert villa park was the special solutions that the KAV staff had to create at the junction of the raw concrete surface and the glass membrane. Károly Lovász highlighted in the report that KAV's engineers and employees had to solve many challenges during the planning and execution, whether it was thermal technology, sun protection, mechanical engineering, glass railing connections or waterproofing. The result is a simultaneously organic and high-tech building, which is considered exceptional in Hungary not only in its appearance, but also in its innovations.

With the KAV Home product range, our company is making high-quality aluminium doors and windows available to a new customer base. We talked to Zoltán Balázsi, sales engineer, and Károly Lovász, the Executive Director of KAV, about why this opening is important in the life of KAV and why it is worth buying aluminium doors and windows at KAV.

Although one of the most modern façade elements is glass, numerous problems can arise during the design process if the glass structures used have not been properly thought through. As to what makes these glass structures special, and why it is important for competent sector designers to deal with these building elements even during planning, we spoke with chartered architect György Mihály Stocker, reader in the BUTE Faculty of Civil Engineering, and vice-president of ALUTA.

Unique windows and glass walls are playing an increasingly important role in modern family homes, so working together requires a different approach from both designers and window-door professionals than it did a few years ago. According to Csaba Finta, interior designer and art director of MYD-II, it is important that architects and interior designers take this aspect into account during the planning stage.

The question of when to engage window experts in the design process often arises. In this context, architect and head of the Archista architectural firm, László Kenyeres, shares his experiences. He believes that in today's architectural design process, windows and doors are a critical aspect because they represent one of the most complex parts of a building. Therefore, even those not well-versed in the world of windows may require external assistance to confidently complete an execution plan.

A building awarded an ALUTA award of excellence with an architect’s eye

Our company has started an investment in Kisbér in Komárom-Esztergom County. In addition to the production tasks, we will also carry out a number of preparatory and design work tasks at the factory's 3-acre site and their offices near the city. Károly Lovász, Managing Director of KAV, gives an insight into the possibilities and future plans of the new special windows and doors factory.

From almost the first pencil stroke, KAV's staff cooperated with Kroki Studio on the extension of the Continental Golf Club. This included a jointly designed support structure, custom latched line-up and skylight connections, amongst other elements of the exclusive building. We spoke to András Göde, one of the founders of Kroki, about the joint work, what it is like to work on the basis of each other's ideas and the interesting aspects of the project.

KAV’s customers come into contact with several of our colleagues in the bidding, preparation and construction processes in the course of a job. These are our sales and estimation colleagues, our technical and manufacturing preparation engineers, our project engineers, and then our installation specialists. It is very rare that the end-user comes into contact with the manufacturing preparation engineers. In this article, we’d like to describe the work of these professionals in connection with the Continental Golf Club construction project.

The use of aluminium doors and windows in family homes allows increasingly large glass surfaces to appear in residential buildings. Because we spend a large part of our time indoors, high-transparency aluminium windows and sliding doors help to create an almost direct connection with the environment. We discussed with Károly Lovász, the managing director of KAV Hungária, why it is worth choosing large doors and windows.

Properties being created in an ongoing KAV project may nearly be interpreted as works of art. No company with relevant references could be found, either in Hungary or abroad, for the implementation of buildings that were considered unique at the European level too. We talked about this special job with Mihály Fodor, the Managing Director of the implementing company, and András Havasy, the project’s Technical Director.

When building or renovating a house, developers and architects may be wondering when it is worth deciding on an aluminium front door. In addition to durability, the main argument may be that aluminium can deliver dimensions and solutions that neither wood nor plastics allow.

From now on, KAV assists the work of architects with a complimentary consulting service. This is because, closing systems are such special structural elements that their thorough knowledge and following the trends is nearly impossible for those not specialised in this field. Now architects may ask their questions of Norbert Kiss, who worked as a designer for a long time himself, and now he has been strengthening the KAV team for years.

Unlike its other competitors, KAV was not thinking about classic “contract manufacturing” - that is, not buying material from us, making and delivering it, so to speak - but actually looking at the whole project, looking for solutions and providing additional services to the Icelandic customer.

This year, KAV has once again been honored with the prestigious ALUTA Excellence Prize, the sole recognition for Hungarian aluminum window and facade manufacturers. The ALUTA Excellence Prize in the "small project" category acknowledged the remarkable aluminum window solutions of the Felhő Street Reformed Kindergarten, with its most distinctive feature being the curved curtain wall boasting over 700 unique angles.
